Art for free? How you can claim art on tax.

I know, I know, it sounds too good to be true. But let me assure you this is a real thing!

Here's how it works...

If you work from home as an employee you may claim a deduction for your artwork as part of your home office expenses (up to the value of $300).

That could be 2 fine art prints for your office - FOR FREE!

Better yet, if you are a small to medium sized business owner (turning over less than $500million annually) the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) classifies artwork as both an investment and a depreciating asset for businesses. This means it makes any artwork purchases eligible for the instant asset write-off measure.

Which means business owners can now claim up to $150,000 per painting or sculpture with no limit as to how many pieces this applies for.

AND...

My annual Studio Sale is still on until 7pm tonight so you can collect prints or originals at incredibly low prices (and maybe even claim them on your tax if the above applies to you).
